FULL NAME/CELE MENO: Tomáš Záborský

Tomas' hockey career began when he took his first steps on the ice as a six year old, and played his first game when he was nine years old, for the Dukla Trencin hockey club in his hometown of Trencin, Slovakia.  As time passed Tomas started playing with older players.  His skills developed along with his chemistry with the team.  When he was 14, Dukla Trencin won the Slovakian league, with Tomas as the team's youngest player.  He won again the next year playing with a team of guys the same age.  Tomas then played two years in the Slovak Extraleague- Under 18, winning a gold medal the first year and leading the team in scoring.  He took home the silver medal his second year.  This time, he showed his leadership as team capitan, as well as both team and league scoring leader racking up 52 goals in 51 games.  Tomas began his rookie season in the Slovak Extraleague- Under 20 the next season.  Here he dominated the league with 49 goals and 27 assists for 76 points in 49 games.  His team also dominated, winning the league's gold medal, beating Team Skalica in the final.  During this year, Tomas also played four games for Trencin's Senior team, and five games for Povazska Bystrica B team.  At the end of the season, on June 24, 2006, Tomas was drafted in the 5th round, 137th overall of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.  That same year, Tomas was also drafted in the 1st round, 36th overall of the CHL Import Draft by the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.  In his first season with the Spirit, Tomas had 46 points in 62 games.  In December and January, Tomas also played with Team Slovakia during the World Junior Championships in Sweden, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points in six games for his country. in his 2nd and final year of junior hockey, Tomas scored 70 points in 68 games, placing third in team scoring for the Spirit. In addition to his regular season stats, Tomas tallied 2 goals and an assist in the 2008 playoffs. After the season ended with the Spirit, Tomas was called up to play two games with the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League.  In his AHL debut, Tomas had one assist.  On June 3, 2008, Tomas signed a three year contract with the New York Rangers of the NHL.  At the beginning of the 2008-2009 season Tomas was assigned by the Rangers to the Charlotte Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League. He was then reassigned to the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL on January 1st, 2009. After a little over a month with the Bombers, Tomas was sent by the Rangers to their American League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack where he scored 3 points in 8 games before enduring a season-ending shoulder injury that required Tomas to have surgery in March. Tomas rejoined the Wolf Pack for 2009 Training camp looking unscathed, scoring 5 points in 4 pre-season games for Hartford. The Rangers then assigned Tomas to play for Assat Pori in Finland's SM-liiga, where he will be for the 2009-2010 season.
